Description
As part of the surveying team, postholder will deal with all aspects of building surveying across both private and public sector, managing projects to ensure they are completed within agreed timeframes and to budget; providing technical and advisory guidance; prepare specifications and drawings and carry out risk assessments for improvement and refurbishment projects; prepare tender documents, undertake site monitoring of contracts, ensuring compliance and quality control; undertake site surveys for completing detailed building condition surveys, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys, planned maintenance and defect analysis, to include analytical investigation, research, and preparation of technical reports with clarity of findings and recommendations; carry out reinstatement cost assessments; ensure housing trusts comply with legislation; identify new and business opportunities; report any suspicions including AML and GDPR breaches.
The successful candidate will be member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors/equivalent; be working/prepared to work towards MRICS status; degree/equivalent in Building Surveying related discipline; have current site card/prepared to attain; at least 3 years experience in similar role; demonstrable experience using MS Office365; excellent understanding of Building Regulations and other construction and building surveying related legislation and health and safety legislation including Management in Construction (Jersey) Regulation 2016 and risks and hazards associated with asbestos and legionella; able to prioritise and see the bigger picture, make tough decisions, and use initiative; able to work independently and unsupervised; positive to technological change and process improvement; excellent communication, time management, analytical and organisational skills; self starter and team player.
